Spiritual Warfare

Someone asked the question, “What book would you recommend for spiritual warfare?” He was actually pushing a book he had written. I answered his question anyway. Here is my answer:

I recommend the Holy Bible which is the word of God. It tells us exactly what to do in spiritual warfare.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” Ephesians 6:10-17 NASB1995.

In addition to this:

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen,” 1 Peter 5:6-11 NASB1995.

And,

“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it,” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB1995.

Lastly,

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you,” James 4:7-10 NASB1995.

There are many charlatans who prey on Christians who want to learn as much as they can about spiritual things. You can read their books until your eyes give out, and never reach the place you would have reached if you had read the Bible instead. Read the Bible, my friends, all the while trusting and allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the things of God as He wills. He will not let you down.
